Victoria sings with Bloomfield Ave at Roadhouse 20/03/11

20th March 2011 was the day we had been waiting for. A Sunday night performance from Bloomfield Avenue at Roadhouse with an appearance from Victoria. Her song choices had been kept top secret *insert dramatic music here* and we were very excited for them to be revealed.

The night got off to a great start, we were lucky enough to have and amazing view of the stage and met a number of other VHB supporters who had come along.

Bloomfield Avenue began the evening as always with a few upbeat numbers and it wasn't long before there were people on the dance floor. Rachel Wooding's energy always at top level never ceases to amaze us!
Halfway through the first set,Victoria took the stage and wowed us all with a brilliant rendition of "Another Little Piece of my Heart". Once again she owned the stage and all eyes were on her, looking striking in leather trousers and a black trilby, used as a prop! It was really lovely to see Victoria use her middle range and belt, also to see her sing another genre of music- is there no end to this girl's talent??

Gatherings like this are always great to network with other supporters and we met alot of lovely people last night, each had their own story about how they were introduced to Victoria. It was lovely to see a large group of  her family and friends come along to support her and we were touched to have been introduced to her Mum.

We literally leapt out of our seats as the intro to Victoria's second song began to play - it was a particular favorite of Emma and Hayley! Luckily Ana was able to record it as we were all too busy dancing to "I Love Rock and Roll!" The hat was well and truly in play during this one and Victoria was busting some serious moves! Talking after the performance, she mentioned it felt like fast-forwarding it went so fast! All of us agreed this to be the highlight of the evening, it brought back memories of Flashdance days.......*sob*
We are all regulars at Roadhouse and usually any guest only sings two songs, what a treat last night to hear that Victoria was singing four!  Oh what a special girl !!

Song number three came round so fast and is so iconic these days, The Zutons did this song justice, Amy Winehouse did NOT!  It was "Valerie"! Now this was a definite floor filler and everyone was up on their feet, even us, the cameras were laid flat! Rachel Wooding joined in for a moment during this one and their were some nice harmonies flying around. We loved it and it seemed to go down well with everyone else there. Victoria seemed relaxed onstage and looked like she was enjoying herself during this one too.

The end of the night drew closer and we knew there was only one song left, we all seemed to thinking the same *this better be good!* It was a Tina Turner classic; "Proud Mary". By this point in the night, everyone had relaxed and the atmosphere was pretty electric, Victoria's voice completely exceeded all our expectations and smiles and "wows"  rippled through the bar. Her presence on that tiny stage was incredible, she had everyone hooked!  It was amazing to see people come together on a dance floor, drawn by one particular person, all having fun.

A brilliant night was had by all last night,  thank you to all who came and supported Victoria.
Emma and Hayley

Last night, all of my personal expectations of Victoria were blown right out of the water! It was immense to hear yet another genre of music; we have had musical theatre, a bit of jazz, and now rock!!  I swear there is no end to this girl's talent, seriously I think she's my hero! Oh and the hat deserves a bit of recognition people! Love to this girl, Rock On! Hayley xxx

Once again Vix you blew me away, your talent seems to be endless and you always do something to wow me just that little bit more. It was great to see you back up on stage and again doing something I had never
seen you do. You just made me love you so much more, can't wait to see you do something again soon,
Lots of Love and support as always,
Emma xxxxx

Now we hear from Victoria's biggest fan.....her Ma.....

Thank you TeamVHB for inviting me to do a blog.

Firstly, I would like to say a BIG thank you to the followers of TeamVHB and to compliment you all on your good taste!

There are so many things I could say about our daughter Victoria but that would take too long!!

Victoria is born under the sign of Taurus the bull and in the year of the Dog making her a compassionate, fearless, powerful and driven person and the best friend you will ever have!

Victoria did her first ballet class at the age of 3 and came home very cross because she was the only girl wearing a black leotard as all the other little girls had pretty coloured ones. You can imagine how upset I was to discover how I had disgraced her! I dashed out as soon as I could to Gandolfi in
Baker Street
and purchased the prettiest leotard and accessories I could find! Needless to say I was forgiven soon after! Victoria meant business even then!

Victoria’s real passion when she was a young girl was to work with animals and she applied to London Zoo for a voluntary position and managed to get a job two Sundays a month working in the Children’s Zoo. She used to muck-out the stables, clean the cages and the windows, change the bedding, help with the feed etc.  When her dad went to collect her from work she stank like a farmyard! She kept up the job until she was preparing for her GCSEs and was the last volunteer to leave in her group. Later whilst her dad Rick was covering London South East News at London Zoo they all knew Victoria who they called “the ballerina”.  Victoria has always had a huge menagerie of animals at home, the last count was 2 rough collies called Storm (male) and Bijou (female) cat called Christopher (male) and Annie (female) and Sapphire the hamster. They all lived in heavenly bliss together and would all go to greet Victoria when she arrived home. It was a very sad day when we had to say goodbye to them but on a happy note they all lived to a ripe old age! Victoria could no longer stand coming home without an animal to greet her so off she took herself and came back with a little Jack Russell Cross called “Toby” as a gift for us. He is a cherished member of our family.

Victoria started off at Stella Mann School in West Hampstead and then at 11 went on to the Central School of Ballet, Hatton Garden.  At 14 she received a scholarship to the Lower School of the Urdang Academy of Ballet and Performing Arts and then went on to the Upper School and secured a job before graduating and went straight out to work after graduating with the show “Oh! What a Night” a musical featuring Kid Creole and Sheila Ferguson of the Three Degrees.Victoria played the role of “Cat”. This job took us to The Sporting Club in Monte Carlo whilst we stayed at a friend’s hotel in nearby Juan Le Pain.

Victoria is an accomplished swimmer and diver and was headhunted by an Olympic Coach to be trained up as a female swimmer to represent Great Britain in the Olympics but her father decided that this was not the route he wanted for her and a wise decision that was too, because we would not have the pleasure of watching her perform! She has been involved in many sports from ice-skating at the age of 5, and horse riding soon after, she is a natural sportswoman and is blessed with great physical strength, thanks to the genes inherited from her father. She also loves extreme sports such as bungee jumping and will be attempting her first sky dive very soon!!

Victoria is a natural comic and never ceases to have us in hysterics at family gatherings.

She has a huge selection of cartoons which are stored in a huge chest along with her other treasures from her childhood.  I still recall her bawling her eyes out watching “Watership Down”, “Dot and the Kangaroo” and “The Fox and the Hounds” as you can see they are all animal related.

I love her ethos and her upbeat attitude to life - Vix is a forever optimist!

I am pleased that Victoria is enjoying her time out and hope that it won’t be too long before her next challenge comes along!!

Victoria's interview at the Whats On Stage Awards

Victoria was nominated for The Baby Grand Best Actress in a Musical award in the 2010 whats on stage awards. Here is an interview with Victoria at the WOS awards ceremony.

We saw Victoria at the Whats On Stage awards ceremony and she said to us that it was an honour to even be nominated for the award. I think for the amount of actresses in the Westend to be down to the final 6 is amazing in itself.

Also here are the two pictures taken of Victoria and Rory at the awards, photos were taken by Dan Wooller and can be seen at http://wooller.com/.
